Filming Schedule

We managed to do our filming in one day during the october half term. We previously arranged this as we all had to make sure that we was free and also before hand we checked the weather for that day as we would be using natural light when filming the outside parts. With our storyboards we knew how we wanted the scene to look so with this in mind we made a decision of where we wanted to film. We all met at 10am and started dressing our actors/actresses in their set costumes. This took us around 30 minutes as we wanted to make sure that our charcters looked the part. Our first part of filming was the montage and we found that this took longer than we thought it was going to as the main character Anisha, (Rani) had to keep changing costume as it was meant to be the events that happened to her on different days. This meant that we had to keep stopping filming whilst we waited for her to change. The next part we filmed was her walking at the very opening of the film. We used a local road and used different shots, like mid-shot, long shot, side shot and match on action. We chose to film the outside parts first as we decided that at that time of the day we would have the best natural light. After we had done many shots outside we changed outfits again and did the sleepover scene. We finished filming around 3pm which i think is quite reasonable timing as we filmed the whole thing. When we uploaded the footage onto the computer and watched it back we found that some parts we needed to film again so we did this during our lessons at school as we only needed the main character and we could easily walk to the setting. Having to re shoot some parts meant that we had to think about the continuity of our film. We made sure that we had exactly the same outfit, hairstyle and make-up so the appearance of the character was the same. We also had to shoot it on a day with similar weather to the last time to have the same lighting. Shooting again made us realise how much thought has to be put in and how important continuity is. I think the only problem we found was the waiting around for costume changes as this was valuable filming time so it slowed us down.

Our Characters

 This is our main character Anisha.

 This is the love interest of Anisha.

 This is Anisha's older sister, Amina.

 This is Anisha's younger sister, Anita.

And this is the group of friends at the sleepover. 

Locations and Props

Our film is meant for our target audience to be able to relate to events and characters and to find some humour from this. With this in mind our location in the film are the roads locally and a friends house. Using the roads and streets helps set the scene of our character being the average teenage girl. It also showed a normal average day as there was people in the background doing their own thing and everyday traffic. We chose to use our friends house because we wanted somewhere that was big enough to shoot in but also felt like a warm home. This meant there was home appliances and the decor was contemporary including decorations like pictures, rugs, ornaments and photographs. We added to the decorations for example, in the sleepover scene we brought props with us. Such as fairy lights which changed the lighting so it was more subtle lighting as it was meant to be in the evening. We also had sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, and sweets which brought together the whole look of the scene. We wanted it to look very snug and comfortable with the sleeping bags and cushions and also with the different patterns and colours it helped show the different personalities of the characters in the group. The decision on adding sweets was to our personal experiences as we know that there always some sweets and film during sleepovers. It helped create the relaxed feeling between the characters and then this pursues through to the audience watching. For the very beginning part of the film when it is just the main character, we added an umbrella to show that earlier in the day it had been raining as just a little further on she gets splashed by a passing car. Doing this lets the audience know what the weather is like and without knowing that this the splash would make no sense in the film. This proves how important props are as they help set the scene and support events that happen. The props, choices of location and decisions on lighting helped us create the mis-en-scene of our film and without this our film genre wouldn't be shown.

These are some of our props that we used in the sleepover scene. You can see the bowl of sweets and the surroundings of cushions and sleeping bags which helped create the mis-en-scene for this part of the film. 

Costume Designs

This is our main characters costume design. We wanted something basic but still stylish. It is an everyday outfit and we were inspired by looking at what we, ourselves wear and our friends as this is our target audience and the age of the character. We also had to think about what our actress was going to have to do, so it had to be practical and easy for her to be moving around in. During the film we have a car splash so this is why we included a raincoat and an umbrella in the design.  

This is the design of the love interest of Anisha (the main character). He too is dressed as an everday boy in jeans and a t-shirt. It is a very casual outfit to fit in with the idea of the film being something our target audience can relate to. We didnt want anything to over powering or strange because we found in our research, rom-coms dress their characters in what the majority of the public wear.

For the olders sister in our film we wanted to create more of a sterotypical character. We decided to make a 'chav' character. by looking more into the style of ;chavs' this is hwat we came up with. To add to the whole style of the character we thought about the make-up and hairstyle. The make-up is quite dramatic as it is piled on which is the stereotypical look of a 'chav'. We accessorised her with gold hoop earrings to add to the whole effect.

This is the main charcters younger sister. For this character we wanted her to look very young and innocent, this is why we chose a dress and pale colours. The dress amkes her look very girly and bubbly. We wanted to suggest the role of an annoying younger sister. We included the hairstyle to show the personality of the character and it helps with the overall look.

This design is for the last scene of our film, the sleepover scene. This is when the group of friends get together for a night in. With the girly teenage image in mind this is what we came up with. This was the basic idea of what each character would look like, but each character would be slightly different to show their personalites and inviduality in the group. We accessorised them with slippers to make the whole design look cosy and comfortable.
